Join eBuddies® for a Truly Unique Pen Pal Experience
|
One of our St. Michael's Buddies and her teacher enjoy learning about and working on the computers at school. |
Have you ever thought that having a pen pal might be a fun way to meet someone who you may never have otherwise encountered?
Would you like a friend who is unique, can share common interests, and make you smile?
The eBuddies® program offers Louisianians the chance to make a new friend/pen pal in another state or even country to further the mission of Best Buddies.
High School Program Manager for the Louisiana state office, Lane Borden, recently joined the program and was matched with her eBuddy®, Tina, in April.
“Tina is wonderful, and we share so many common interests. We both love music and dancing, and I really look forward to receiving her emails every week. She brightens my day,” Borden said about the match.
The eBuddies® participants are matched for one year and always involve one person with an intellectual disability and one person without an intellectual disability. Participants in the program are matched with their eBuddies® based on common interests and hobbies, and the registration process allows participants to request to be matched with a person from a different country.
While the Louisiana state office encourages all community members to get involved with the eBuddies® program, there is a need for more people with intellectual disabilities to join and be matched.
If you are interested in getting involved with eBuddies® or know someone who you feel would enjoy and benefit from the program, please help him/her register at www.ebuddies.org.
You can also direct any questions or comments to Lane Borden at laneborden@bestbuddies.org. |
